Confessions Of Business Lazarus

CONFESSIONS OF BUSINESS LAZARUS #22:Never engage in a business that doesn’t align with your Everyday lifestyle.

One of the greatest lessons I learned in my entrepreneurial journey is this:
👉 Matching your lifestyle to your business is essential for long-term success.

I’ve never been a party-loving person. I don’t drink, I’m not a nightlife enthusiast, and while I enjoy socializing, I prefer meaningful conversations over small talk. I usually get bored when discussions turn trivial — and by 8:00 PM, I’m ready for bed.

So, it often puzzled me when friends could stay at parties from night till morning. Whenever I tagged along, I’d notice that very little actual dancing happened. Most people spent hours drinking, chatting loudly, or gossiping. Within an hour or two, I’d already be fighting off sleep!

Yet despite knowing this about myself, I ventured into the music and entertainment industry — starting a record label and an artiste management company. 🥁🎶

It didn’t take long to realize that the entertainment business thrives on a lifestyle completely opposite mine. Success in that space demands attending night events, socializing endlessly, and often indulging in habits I didn’t support.

At the time, I was already an ordained pastor — actively running a church and living by Christian values. That meant being mindful of my public image and avoiding situations that could compromise my faith. Unfortunately, the entertainment scene revolved around environments that constantly tested those boundaries.

🎭 The Clash of Lifestyle and Industry

I soon discovered that to succeed in entertainment, one must embrace the nightlife — a world of late parties, loud clubs, and endless networking. But my natural rhythm peaks in the morning, not at midnight.

I wrongly believed that creativity, passion, and motivation alone would make up for what I lacked in lifestyle alignment. It didn’t. My business struggled, not because I lacked talent, but because I was in an environment that didn’t fit who I was.

I even avoided the very places where artists and industry insiders connected — not out of arrogance, but to stay true to my convictions. Meanwhile, successful record label owners were comfortable mingling, drinking, and being out all night. Their lifestyle fit the business; mine didn’t.

The truth hit me hard: 🚫 You can’t succeed in an industry that demands a lifestyle you naturally resist.

💎 The Core Lesson

If your business doesn’t harmonize with your daily habits, values, or natural energy flow, it will eventually drain you. Misalignment between who you are and what your business requires can lead to frustration and burnout.

The secret is to build a business that complements your lifestyle — not one that forces you to become someone else.

When your values, habits, and business rhythm move in the same direction, success becomes not only sustainable but deeply fulfilling.

That was one of the most powerful takeaways from my time at Stingomania Records — and it remains a timeless entrepreneurial truth.

🌱 Key Takeaway

Choose a business that fits your lifestyle — because when your business and life move in harmony, success feels natural.
