Greatness Day 119: Winners Find a Way, Losers Find a Reason

Source Quote:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right.” – Henry Ford

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer made history by becoming the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. At the time, women were banned from competing. Officials claimed they were too “weak” to endure the distance.

Midway through the race, a race official spotted Kathrine and physically tried to rip off her bib number in an attempt to force her out. Many would have stopped right there. She didn’t.

Her running mates surrounded her, protected her, and Kathrine kept going—finishing all 26.2 miles.

She had every reason to quit:

  • “It’s not allowed.”
  • “I could get hurt.”
  • “People will ridicule me.”

But winners don’t look for reasons—they find a way.

Kathrine’s courage didn’t just finish a race; it changed history. Today, more than half of marathon runners worldwide are women, all because one woman refused to accept excuses as truth.

Why Excuses Are Dangerous

Excuses always sound reasonable in the moment—but their real job is to protect mediocrity.

Winners think differently:

  • They see obstacles as puzzles, not prisons.
  • They convert resistance into resolve.
  • They stop rehearsing why something can’t be done and start searching for how it can be done.

🚫 Every excuse you accept becomes an argument for failure.
✅ Every solution you pursue becomes a step toward destiny.

Where excuses end, greatness begins.

🔑 Greatness Takeaways

• Excuses are easy to find—but solutions change the world
• Winners don’t face fewer obstacles; they carry stronger resolve
• Every problem hides a seed of innovation 🌱

📝 Exercise

Write down the biggest excuse you’ve been using lately.
Now reframe it into a problem you can solve—and list one action step.

⚡ 3 Things To Do Today

1️⃣ Take one forward step in an area you’ve delayed because of excuses
2️⃣ Read or watch the story of an innovator who overcame resistance
3️⃣ Replace “I can’t because…” with “I can if…” in your self-talk

🌱 Affirmation

“I don’t look for excuses—I look for answers. I am a solution-carrier.”

🚀 Closing Charge

Reasons multiply failure.
Solutions multiply greatness.

👉 Be a finder of ways, not a collector of reasons.
