Greatness Day 39 –Fear Disguised as Wisdom Still Chains You

Inspirational Quote:
“Caution is the eldest child of fear.” – William Blake
💡The Big Idea (with Story)
In 2010, Kodak filed for bankruptcy. Hard to believe, considering this was the same company that invented digital photography back in 1975. So why did they fail? Because they disguised fear as wisdom.
Kodak’s leaders said things like:
- “The market isn’t ready.”
- “We must be cautious.”
- “It’s too risky.”
But those weren’t wise strategies. They were excuses rooted in fear of losing their film profits. That “caution” destroyed an empire.
How often does this same lie creep into our own lives? We hear:
- “Be realistic.”
- “Don’t rush.”
- “Take it slow.”
Sometimes, those are just fear speaking in a respectable tone. Rosa Parks wasn’t being “realistic” when she refused to give up her seat. Mandela wasn’t being “careful” when he resisted apartheid. Muhammad Ali wasn’t being “cautious” when he challenged Liston.
Wisdom requires risk. Fear avoids it. Don’t confuse the two.
